Interning at EPLO DC: A Transformative Experience
For Caitlyn, Andrew, Kate, and Griffen, the EPLO internship was an unforgettable experience. Throughout their 5-month internship, they had the chance to learn about the inner workings of the European Parliament, immerse themselves in foreign policy debates, and work with an incredible team of professionals. Here's a glimpse into their transformative experience.
Caitlyn (Texas) had always dreamed of working in the European Parliament, and her EPLO internship exceeded her expectations. As an insider, she had the opportunity to contribute to the office's work, be a full-time communications team member, and learn about the EU from a unique perspective. She also enjoyed meeting MEPs and Congresspeople, attending lectures and events, and working with a fantastic team. "If anyone is looking to work at an impactful organization and have experiences that few people can claim, consider EPLO!" - she says.
Andrew's (Florida) EPLO internship was an excellent opportunity to learn about the European Parliament and diplomacy. He had the chance to work with a delegation from the European Parliament, attend significant events, and learn from the unique perspectives of everyone in the office. "I have appreciated how welcoming everyone has been and enjoyed working with everyone throughout my internship," - he underlines.
Kate (Minnesota) calls interning at EPLO a genuinely unique opportunity. She was encouraged to take the initiative and challenge herself and participated in all aspects of EPLO's work. She gained insider insight into the legislative processes of the European Parliament and the U.S. Congress. She immersed herself in critical foreign policy debates across the Atlantic. She also had the chance to witness diplomacy in action by attending high-level meetings with MEPs, Members of Congress, think tank experts, and State Department officials. "As valued team members, interns participate in all aspects of EPLO's work and are encouraged to take the initiative, challenge themselves, and capitalize on EPLO's vast network of contacts," - she noted.
Griffen (Florida) was grateful for his time with the European Parliament. "The thing I enjoyed most was working as part of a multinational team including colleagues from all over the European Continent," - he mentioned. He learned about the various EU institutions he had studied in university and his colleagues' different cultures and perspectives on the United States. He found it enriching and inspiring and plans to apply the lessons he learned at EPLO to his career in public service.
Overall, the EPLO internship was a transformative experience for Caitlyn, Andrew, Kate, and Griffen. They gained valuable skills, knowledge, and insights and had the chance to work with a fantastic team of professionals.
